The story is about how a girl who ran away from her house because she thought nobody loved her was saved by an animal that the villagers had banished because he was ugly and different. The story tries to convey that we should not judge people by their appearance as they did to Cheeta, the animal who saved the girl, Chinnu. The story also gives glimpses of a pet dog's love and concern for her mistress.
